High Commission of Sri Lanka in Singapore Holds Special Mass in Solidarity with those affected by adverse weather

In the spirit of Christmas, marked by sharing and compassion, the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Singapore organized a special Mass on Sunday, 21 December 2025, at the Church of St. Mary of Angels, to offer prayers and invoke blessings for those affected by recent adverse weather conditions in Sri Lanka.

The Service was conducted by the Assistant Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Julian Mariaratnam, reflecting hope in response to the commitment to standing in unity with those facing hardship during this challenging period. Staff of the High Commission, together with members of the Sri Lankan community in Singapore, including Sri Lankan migrant workers and friends of Sri Lanka participated in the service.

During the Mass, Rev. Fr. Mariaratnam led special prayers for the safety, well-being, and recovery of affected communities, and invoked blessings upon the people of Sri Lanka and the country’s leadership. He emphasized the importance of empathy, mutual understanding, and peaceful coexistence, particularly during times of adversity, and called for collective action in supporting those in need.

The Mass concluded with a light fellowship meal featuring Sri Lankan flavours, fostering a sense of community, togetherness, and goodwill among the participants.
